Andres is a Military Police Officer who returned to Florida after retiring from the United States Army with 27 years of active service. He is a Level III Tactical Combatives Instructor and was the NCOIC for the 303rd MEB Combatives program while at Fort Shafter, HI. He spent 10 years of his military career as an active member and Team Leader of the Special Reaction Teams and a lead instructor for small unit tactics and Counter Improvised Explosive Devices program for the Army. He graduated from the "Sheepdog Dog Response & Law Enforcement Occupational Level 1" Courses but he is mostly proud of being a graduate of DSAOK Advanced Combat Pistol Course. Andres began his Martial Arts journey when he was 10 years old in Caguas, Puerto Rico until the age of 16, competing in the Puerto Rican Nationals and eventually earning his Blue Belt (2nd KYU). He's journey to Jiu-Jitsu did not begin until 2008, but since then Andres has taken full advantage of his path by maintaining an active competitor status between 2010 and 2014 at O2 Martial Arts, earning the Gold Medals at both the IBJJF Worlds & Pan American Championships and the Hawaii Abu-Dhabi Try-outs for his weigh class and Absolute Championships. After leaving Hawaii, he joined the Bushido Martial Arts Academy of the Relson Gracie Association in Columbus, Ohio. During his tenure there, he competed in several submission only tournaments, earning major accolades including a Gold Medal during a short but rewarding submission only professional fight career. He holds a Degree in Science & Weapons Technology through Sonoran Desert Institute & is a certified Self-Defense Instructor with the America Sports & Fitness Association.
During His time in the Military, He served as Certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor, a Combat Pistol Instructor, and a Tactical Rifle Instructor, while conducting 6 Operational Deployments to Panama, Kuwait (Desert Storm & Shield) Iraq, Africa, Cuba and Central America in support of Operations Enduring & Iraqi Freedom.
